Is it a Crime to Hate?

In Canada you may face criminal offence charges for hateful conduct. You may be charged with a criminal offence for expressing hateful views in Canada. In Canada our freedom of expression is not absolute and is limited both by the Criminal Code and by the Canadian Human Rights Commission. In Ontario, the Ontario Human Rights Commission hears and remedies complaints of hateful conduct in Ontario. These limitations are controversial, as some people believe that your freedom of expression should trump protection from hate, while some value the right to be protected over their right to express themselves hatefully.
