R. v. N.N.
Client was charged with domestic assault against his wife of fifteen years. He allegedly punched her in the head and body during an argument, witnessed by their 13-year-old daughter who called 911. The Crown cited repeated blows, children present, and prior allegations as aggravating factors. We first had his bail changed so he could return home, then negotiated a withdrawal after he completed the PARS and Caring Dads programs.
Charges Withdrawn
R. v. E.R.
Client was charged with assault against her boyfriend after an argument about his online behaviour. She allegedly grabbed him by the throat, leaving bruises and scratches. She maintained she was the victim and refused the Crown’s initial offer requiring a peace bond and PARS program. We negotiated a better resolution requiring only counselling.
Charges Dismissed
R. v. T.B.
Client was charged with domestic assault and assault by choking. As a non-citizen, any conviction would have made him inadmissible for Canadian citizenship. We successfully defended him at a contested trial and had all charges dismissed.
Charges Withdrawn
R. v. A.C.
Client was charged with domestic assault and assault with a weapon after allegedly attacking her partner following an argument. As a nurse requiring vulnerable sector checks, a conviction would have ended her career. We successfully had all charges withdrawn without requiring a peace bond or counselling.
