R. v. D.M.

Client was charged with domestic assault and mischief under $5,000. His girlfriend of eight years, who was pregnant at the time, alleged he pushed her head into a wall and destroyed her phone during an argument. We successfully defended him at trial.

Outcome: Not guilty on all charges, client found innocent at trial.

R. v. D.R.

Client was charged with mischief under $5,000, two counts of assault with a weapon, and assault. He was arrested, provided a statement, and released on an undertaking with conditions. We successfully had all charges withdrawn in exchange for a 12-month peace bond.

Client was charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He allegedly followed his wife to work and drove his car toward her, forcing her to jump out of the way, while threatening to kill her. After being denied bail in the Ontario Court of Justice, we successfully obtained his release at a bail review in Superior Court.

Outcome: Bail granted on review in Superior Court, client released from custody pending trial.

Client was charged with break and enter with intent and assault. Surveillance footage and photos were admitted as evidence against him. Through pretrial negotiations, we secured a common law peace bond resolution.

R. v. J.M.

Client faced over ten charges including assault with a weapon, break and enter, uttering threats, and possession of incendiary material. He allegedly entered a home while masked and armed with a samurai sword, hatchet, and gasoline, then attacked a resident and poured gasoline throughout the house. Despite strong Crown opposition and a lengthy criminal record with prior weapons and violent offences, we secured his release.

Client was charged with three counts of robbery with a firearm and using a firearm during an indictable offence. He and three others allegedly robbed three restaurants at gunpoint. Police found two firearms in a vehicle linked to the robberies. Despite strong Crown opposition and two co-accused being denied bail, we secured his release.

Outcome: Bail granted despite serious charges, client released while co-accused remained in custody.
